EHEALTH ACCELERATOR

eHealth - a Focus Area for Sweden

Worldwide, eHealth is an increasingly important issue on the health care agenda. In Sweden, the government views eHealth as an essential tool to meet the need of accessible, qualitative, and efficient health care. Swedish eHealth innovations and enterprises have developed strongly over the past years and the government of Sweden, together with other national entities, has identified the area of eHealth as particularly suitable for export endeavors.

Sweden eHealth Accelerator - Supporting eHealth Enterprises
Swecare has initiated an eHealth project – Sweden eHealth Accelerator (SeA) – underway from 2009 to 2011. The purpose is to increase the value of eHealth services, shorten the time for innovation to reach market and to facilitate commercialization and market launches of Swedish eHealth applications and services in the international field.

Sweden eHealth Accelerator aims to:

  • Establish a national arena in which health care providers, enterprises, government authorities and other interested parties can strengthen each other and utilize existing networks to attain mutual benefits.

  • Coach and support enterprises in the commercialization and internationalization processes.

  • Formulate measures designed to support relevant projects and enterprises within eHealth in their aspirations to reach the international market.

A number of enterprises with a focus on eHealth have been selected as case studies within Sweden eHealth Accelerator. These enterprises receive individual coaching and support in their export efforts. The enterprises cover a wide array of applications and services with focus on patient and care provider values and benefits.

Joint Initiative
Sweden eHealth Accelerator is a joint initiative in collaboration with the Swedish governmental agency for innovation systems, the Knowledge Foundation, and the Vårdal Foundation – for Health Care Sciences and Allergy Research.
